The yearly conference of EphMRA (European Pharmaceutical Market Research Association) gives the opportunity to meet and discuss the new trends of pharmaceutical market research with producers and researchers – now not only from Europe, but from all over the world. The conference was organised in Amsterdam this June.

At the beginning, we could work together with our partners in a half-day workshop, on important and relevant topics related to healthcare and pharmaceutical research. These sittings were held within the confines of EphMRA Learning and Development Committee by the expert teams.

On the second and third days, we could select from 18 thematic agency conversations and 23 plenary presentations – these presentations revolved around the topics of Customer Insight and creative business analyses, research solutions.

We can proudly announce that in the Patient Insight topic there was a great interest in the presentation of Nienke Feenstra (Country Lead Hungary, Takeda Pharma) and Eszter Kun (Research Director, Szinapszis). Its title was „A Multi-disciplinary Research to Guide Multiple Myeloma Patient Support Efforts”, and it was about the three-quarter-year research conducted by Szinapszis for Takeda Pharma, about the insights of the research and the added value of the cooperation.

Research synopsis

The research focused entirely on the patients, exclusively on their needs, not on the medicines and therapies. A team of experts – KOLs, a patient association, corporate medical and marketing experts and market researchers – understood in depth the life of the target group with the help of ethnographic interviews and a dedicated online community, in which they traced the everyday life of the patients for 3 months. This multidisciplinary study helped to shape the patient support program of Takeda, and it had practical effects on the patients.
